[2][3]Iran Airtour is the national flag carrier airline of Iran. The airline mainly operates under the English name Iran Airtour as written in Persian ( ایران ایرتور ). Iran Airtour's primary hub is at Tehran Airport and its secondary hub is at Mashhad Airport. In total, the group has 12 aircraft that 8 of them are in service. it operate scheduled domestic and international passenger service. Now Iran Airtour has more than 300 flights every week.


Iran Airtour Airline is one of the Iran’s private Airlines, established in 1973 by Iran Air ( Persian:هواپیمایی جمهوری اسلامی ایران ). From 1982, Iran Airtour Airline started scheduled domestic tours to the holy city of Mashhad. Two years later, Airline started to develop tours to countries like China, UAE, India, Singapore and Malaysia.
In addition, it aimed at developing tourism and attract tourists from other countries by organizing seminars with the company managers and officials of tourist companies. As the result, Airline was awarded from various countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Austria, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait which is Airlinr's honor.
Iran Airtour’s flight activity started in 1992 in Mashhad and it became as the operation center of the Airline. Due to flight activity, direct air connection from Mashhad to the 13 provinces center became possible. Iran Airtour Airline was responsible for operating 55% of flights from different cities to Holy City of Mecca for pilgrimage and regional flights with 19 aircrafts to Damascus, Stockholm, Moscow, Ashgabat.

Until 2010, Iran Airtour was one of the state-owned airline companies in Iran then in accordance with Article 44 of the Constitution low , Airline for 54 billion toman was transferred to Hesayar Co., a subsidiary of the Iranian Ministry of Defense. But due to the Check bouncing of four consecutive checks of this company, assignment was canceled. An other auction was done in 2016 and according to that, this Airline for 32 billion toman was conceded to the private sector.[4]

Accidents and incidents

As of 1993, Iran AirTour has had three fatal aircraft accidents. [7]


  • On September 1, 2006, Iran Airtour Flight 945, a Tupolev Tu-154, flying from Bandar Abbas to Mashhad, with 11 crew and 137 passengers on board, burst into flames upon landing at Mashhad International Airport, 28 out of the 148 passengers and crew lost their lives.[10][11]
